Flipkart presents virtual metaverse shopping experience with Flipverse

The Indian e-commerce company, Flipkart has reportedly launched Flipverse, a metaverse-based shopping platform that will allow users to find and shop for products in an engaging manner.

The domestic e-tailer has already signed on with more than 15 brands, including sportswear firm Puma, personal care & cosmetics company Nivea, and domestic electronics company Noise, to debut and display almost 100 products on Flipverse. This is the first time a regular e-commerce corporation has done so to introduce a Web3 service.

In its initial form, the brands will allow customers to browse merchandise from a variety of categories, including sportswear, wearable gadgets, clothing, cosmetics, and home appliances, as well as receive offers and collectibles.

For Android smartphone users, Flipverse is already available on the Flipkart app. Moreover, the pilot experience is available for a week till October 23rd. It is worth mentioning that the e-commerce giant has partnered with Web3 companies such as Polygon, Guardian Link, and eDAO for the launch.

Recently, Flipkart and eDAO collaborated to develop a virtual scavenger hunt during its Big Billion Days festive season sale. At the conclusion of the 10-day sale, customers were given access to online collectibles encompassing numerous aspects such as sports, gaming, art, and entertainment.

Interestingly, the corporation also revealed that the Supercoins earned under its loyalty program by the users would also be extended to Flipverse.

Prominent executives of Flipkart Labs, a division that explores novel technologies, stated that presently the firm was only focusing on getting users to adapt to this experience instead of monetizing on subscriber numbers.

According to Naren Ravula, VP and Head, Product Strategy and Deployment at Flipkart Labs, the introduction of Flipverse will continue to have an effect on cutting-edge industries like e-commerce and improve the consumer experience while giving an immersive and gamified buying exposure, particularly in light of the adoption of the Web3 and metaverse platforms by multiple brands in India.
