Decentraland to host world’s biggest Metaverse Fashion Week in March

Virtual social platform Decentraland has reportedly announced that it will be hosting the world’s largest fashion week, entirely digital, with the Metaverse Fashion Week, set to take place from 24th-27th March this year.

The platform, which runs on Ethereum blockchain and was made open to the public in 2020, will be hosting a four-day event where runway shows, pop-up shops, fashion experiences, as well as afterparties will be organized, featuring many renowned names in the global fashion industry.

Sam Hamilton, Creative Director of Decentraland Foundation, developers of the platform, stated that fashion and haute couture are nothing new for the metaverse, with Decentraland at the forefront of rare and in-demand digital fashion since it had launched wearables for avatars in 2020.

Hamilton further stated that creators had been working on technical and stylistic limits in Decentraland wearables to create a flourishing economy which earned over $1 million last year in avatar wearables sales.

The Metaverse Fashion Week will prove to be a sensation as various brands, houses, designers, and fashion devotees gather around various catwalks in the platform’s latest district, the Luxury Fashion District to make their Web3 debut.

British retailer Selfridges will be opening the Fashion Week on 23rd March, and will also inaugurate its flagship metaverse store, along with an immersive experience by artists Paco Rabanne and Victor Vasarely.

Iconic fashion houses such as Dolce&Gabbana, Etro, Dundas, and many more renowned luxury brands will be hosting daily shows, along with digital brands like The Fabricant and new designers that will be making their debut, including Kid Super and FEWOCiOUS.

AI fashion will also be presented by the collaboration of Sophia the Robot and The Vogu x Hype.

The runway will also feature a luxury shopping area, with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Saab, Franck Muller, Jacob & Co., Cavalli, Faith Tribe, and Faith Connexion, along with many more.

The MVFW will also feature fully-immersive and artistic experiences, digital marketplaces, After-Show parties, and a pre-party show on TwitterSpaces.
